Ciak Handmade Notebook / Ciak El Yapımı Defter

Sevgiler,

A red, leather notebook, with colorful papers. Who doesn't like it? Okay, I accept, it is not very masculine but Ciak also offers, different colors with lined, grid and blank pages on ivory. Ciak is a product of Intempo of Italy, which was established on 1973 in Florence, a city famous for traditional leather goods. Since then, Intempo is producing notebooks, diaries, organizers and office accessories.

One of the most outstanding features of Ciak is, the cover is "man-made leather" and multicolor papers are 90 grams.

That's why, while testing the notebook, I acted generous and used, a fountain pen, two felt tips which caused some troubles with other notebooks, a ballpoint, a needle point, a 0.7 roller pen and a 0.8 really wet calligraphy pen.

As seen, there is no feathering, bleeding or a severe show-through. With this features it gained my appreciation.

Actually I bought this notebook from Panter Stationery Store  a year ago, so I am not really sure about the price. It should be around 30-40 TRY (approximately 15-20 EUR) Overall, this notebook can be suitable for the ones who like to use fountain pen or some wet writing pens.

Cheers,

  1. That was one of the notebooks that I keep eyeing on for years now! Instead of a Ciak, I got a Mood Journal instead. Too bad the closest place where I can buy them is England. Now I am going back to the page to stare at it some more!

    1. I never come across with Mood Journal and I was not aware of it, until you mentioned. But especially the cover seems really cool on the Mood Journal. Bit more elegant and sophisticated when compared to Ciak.

    2. I have reviewed it awhile back. Here is the URL: http://eastwesteverywhere.blogspot.com/2012/01/notebook-review-mood-journal.html (shameless self-promoting!) It is refillable and the paper is surprisingly friendly on paper. I actually found a US retailer who carries Ciak. Might place an order soon!

    3. Actually, I googled it when you first tell and then I came across with your review. My comments about Mood Journal above relying upon your review actually. I have too many notebooks and I don't know when I can use Ciak. If don't mind my test pages, I can gladly send you mine.

    4. Just like shoes, women are always one pretty notebook less :) You should keep yours, as I have plenty notebooks to go through myself. Thank you for the offering! I am just defenseless when it comes to leather covered journal for some odd reason.

  3. I love this notebook! And by the way, if you ever want a penpal, let me know. I love to practice my handwriting and use my pens. :)

The only thing is, these days I am writing in a clairefontaine FR journal to practice keeping my letter formation even.

    1. Dear SakiVI,

Thank you for your great comment. I would love to be penpals with you :) As far as I understood, we both like pets, tea and pens :)

This notebook is lovely, however it is not very suitable for fountain pen use.

      Cheers,

  4. I think the use depends on ink. I have used fountain pen in ciak before, but it was always J. Herbin.

Where should I email you my address? And when you reply, I'll send you mine. :-)

    1. Oh sorry, I totally confused about the notebook. Ciak is always reliable. Who is not reliable: Locko notebooks. Sorry, I don't know why but I just gone wrong. Ciak is great :)

I got your e-mail. I will definitely write back.
