Several years back, US Postal Service began to issue Eid stamps, but it was always during Christmas season. For the longest time, I always thought Eid was around December. Silly and ignorant me! The saving grace is that stamp was quite beautiful.
Oh it may sound weird but Ramadan starts 10 days earlier every year so the Eid. But I am quite surprised as they have a special stamp for that. I guess they run out of topics to make a stamp :)
I speculate that it was a religious equality issue, since stamps have been issued annually to commenmorate Christmas, Kawanzaa, and Hanukkah. It has now become a regular part of the collection. I should send you one some day.
Oh thanks. It is very nice of you. I guess it is a way to say "we respect every religion" and so.
I just wish that they will reflect that in policies as well.
We all hope it :)
