J. HERBIN Brush Pen / J. HERBIN Firca Kalem

On March, I have been to Paris for business purposes. Unlike Amsterdam, Paris was very fruitful on stationery aspect. I had limited time to shop as usual, so I tend to buy things seem different. This brush pen was very new to me, so I wanted to give it a try. Let's see how I ended up with it.

Pen is basically this. It has a cap and a cartridge and brush tip body. But as an interesting thing, even though J. Herbin produces international short cartridges this cartridge was something different. As I noticed the "P" engraving on it, I compared it to Platinum cartridges and voila! It is Platinum cartridge. I don't know why but I assume it is since Platinum has pigment based inks which are waterproof and do not smudge.

Since it was my first try, lines are a bit shaggy. Sorry!  You can have different line variations due to your hand's angle. But it is quite different, trying to write this pen. While drawing this little cat here, I noticed it is easier to draw something instead of trying to write. So I sketched and inked some doodlings for you. They are Sufi themed. Hope you like them!

Parallel with the concept, I salute you: Hû!

      Sevgiler

  2. I really like the Sufi painting you did. The color coordination and the caricature. You are an artist! Let's not forget the cute kitty!

    1. Thank you Shangching. Sufi's are my favorite groups in Islamic tradition (which I am not actually very bonded)

And don't get me started with kitties, I tried to find them at home all morning (because sometimes they might be locked in kitchen or somewhere) so I am late to work :)

    2. Were your kitties hiding? I once closed Auggie in the closet without realizing it until hours later. Imaginably, he was not so thrilled with the temporary imprisonment.
Sufism was only cover briefly in my class, but from what I can recall, they are more musical and spiritual.

    3. They can hide everywhere! Behind the fridge, on top of the fridge, under kitchen cabinets, in closets, under the bed. Recently the small one kept locked in kitchen all night. Fortunately no unwanted things occurred :)

    4. I assume you have two kitties? Thankfully Auggie has no culprit. In fact, I think he will eliminate his competition as soon as we bring another one home ;) How old are your kitties?

    5. I have two kitties, both female and neutered. One is 4,5 (British Shorthair) and the other is stray 3,5 yo. There are some rules regarding the first encounter and first days. After that, they get used to each other. Of course you have to admit and bear that the new one is going to be bullied by settled cat. But it is OK. Because after that, they became friend and accompany each other when you are at work.

    6. Auggie (9 years old) grew up with other cats at my in-laws' house. He plays well with cats, but he was bullied by an older female cat in the house at the time. From then, he becomes a bit wary of other female cats. He has been the only cat for awhile, so probably not a good idea to introduce him a new companion. I can only imagine the ruckus he could create with another cat!

    7. Due to my experience, they don't have a tendency to see kittens as a threat but an older cat might create a bigger threat as well. At first, new kitty gets beaten a bit of course.

Today, my parents are gonna visit us and they will bring my sister's cat. Sure we are going to have a funny!! night tonight.

    8. Heheh.. a kitty pow-wow! You should take some pictures of the meet. I am sure they love visitors. Since I live in an apartment, it might be a better idea to wait until I have a larger space to have more animals. Auggie has been a great companion so far.

    9. It was so quick and sooo hectic that I cannot take a photo. But I always enjoy :)

Auggie seems very nice, elegant looking cat. I wouldn't think it is a boy, since its face is so beautiful. (You know male cats are generally has a masculine face)

    10. Auggie is a spoiled little brat. When I first adopted him, I thought he was a girl until the veterinarian told us that he was a boy. We sometime make fun of how he acts like a girl... if that counts :p

    11. My first cat is a british short hair and since she is a big cat (not fat, just big boned :p) everybody thinks it is a male cat. if that counts :)

    12. British short hair usually has a large build, muscular in some cases. As long as she is healthy and active, then that is all it matters :)

Quite pity I didn't actually see this, must be a spiritual experience.
